Ukrainian students are exempt from paying tuition fees for the summer semester 2022. The Austrian National Union of Students provides a special emergency aid (→ ÖH) for all students affected by the war in Ukraine. It also offers counseling in Ukrainian and Russian: ukraine@oeh.ac.at.An overview of all universities and universities of applied sciences in Austria can also be found at oesterreich.gv.at.



Ernst Mach Scholarship – UKRAINE As a reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the resulting forced flight from the country, there is a need for rapid support for displaced persons or for students, graduates and scientists who are already in Austria and who have lost their financial support due to the war. The Ernst Mach-Ukraine special scholarship program supports Ukrainian students in continuing their studies in Austria.

Ernst Mach Scholarship – UKRAINE As a reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the resulting forced flight from the country, there is a need for rapid support for displaced persons or for students, graduates and scientists who are already in Austria and who have lost their financial support due to the war. The Ernst Mach-Ukraine special scholarship program supports Ukrainian students in continuing their studies in Austria.

The scholarship is aimed both at Ukrainian students who are already studying regularly at an Austrian university and at students, scientists and researchers from Ukraine who would like to continue their studies or projects here.

Target group: students, graduates, postgraduates, doctoral students, postdocs, scientists

Countries of origin: Ukraine (citizenship)

Duration: 1 to 9 months (extension up to 21 months possible)

Grant amount: 715 euros per month

Who can apply?
a) Students who are pursuing a bachelor’s, diploma or master’s degree at an Austrian university or are being prepared for this;

b) Postgraduates pursuing doctoral studies in Austria;

c) Postgraduates and postdocs who want to complete a research stay in Austria with a view to an academic career and who graduated (at a university in Ukraine) after September 30, 2020;

d) Postdocs who worked as lecturers at a university in Ukraine before their expulsion. Maximum age: 50 years (born on or after October 1, 1972)
